TerrainFold Drill

About TerrainFold Drill

TerrainFold Drill is an independent, free browser exercise for building a basic visual link between generic contour patterns and simplified terrain forms. It contains two matching directions, a slope-spacing comparison and ten-round local sessions.

Original clean-room work

The name, interface, React code, mathematical SVG contour diagrams, question engine, explanations and tactile terrain artwork were created for this site. The game uses no real map tiles, coordinates, proprietary question bank or copied tutorial screen. It is not affiliated with a mapping agency, school, publisher or outdoor organization.

Deliberately narrow scope

The represented features are only hills, valleys, ridges, saddles and closed depressions. The site omits map orientation, compass use, scale, declination, routes, hazards and live conditions. A game result is not evidence of navigation competence.
